We use ERwin to design, capture and communicate data designs. At the enterprise and logical levels these designs adhere to 3rd normal form principles. The logical and enterprise models are used to create program and true physical database designs and schemas. Logical database designs can be applied to almost and database managment system. However physical implementation designs require significant understand of the specifics of the application and the database managment system.
