Information Management
Services Offerings
InterLock's consultants have extensive experience in the areas of Information Management. We have designed, constructed, deployed and supported data architectures for a number of relational and non-relational databases systems.
Logical and Physical Database Design Services
We have designed, reviewed, and implemented data designs in many vertical markets. These markets include retail, financial services, distribution, transportation, pharmaceutical and security. We understand the core entities and the relationships between those entities. We understand and can bring this expertise to bear in creating data structures that will meet the specific requirements of your organization.
Database Design Services
We use ERwin to design, capture and communicate data designs. At the enterprise and logical levels these designs adhere to 3rd normal form principles. The logical and enterprise models are used to create program and true physical database designs and schemas.
Data Analysis
Logical and enterprise data practices are essential in minimizing maintenance cost and maintaining the value of the corporate data assets.
Data Analysis
Understanding specifics about your data asset is paramount to maximizing the value of a key corporate asset. Agile development practices and tools may have increased the functionality you have delivered, but good data management practices can help reduce the maintenance cost of those systems.
Physical Database Performance Analysis and problem resolution
Consideration for system performance should start in the early phases of systems analysis. Expected transaction and data volume metrics should be captured and certain concessions should be made during the design and construction phases. This is the optimal approach to maximize system performance. Often this analysis is overlooked during construction, and in many instances, it is not caught until implementation or even post-implementation. InterLock offers assistance in resolving these performance issues. We have years of experience in resolving post-implementation relational database performance issues. We use this experience in the early phases of system design to help assure there are no post implementation performance issues.
Database Performance Remediation
Performance remediation in relational databases, once a good physical design is in place, is largely a matter of understanding the access plans the RDMS will use to retrieve your data. Significant improvements may be made by using a variety of techniques to optmize the access plans.
Independent Data Design Review
We can provide independent assessment and verification of your data design. Having a third party review your designs can help you spot deficiencies or opportunities for enhancement. We can help assure your designs meet not only current requirements, but requirements that you may face as your organization evolves.
Database Design Review
Does you data design support the mission, goals and objectives of the organization and project? How does the design integrate with the enterprise data architecture? Are the structural elements and content best practice for your industry? Is the design structurally cohesive? Have reasoned implementation trade offs been incorporated within the design? These are all question that should be answered in a data design review.
