Deployment Support
Typically, to realize the intended value of a system requires changes to organizational business processes and in many cases, cultural elements. Architectural issues must be analyzed and addressed. How many environment are necessary? Production, Training? Acceptance Testing? Release testing? How are database servers, application servers to be configured? How is client roll-out to be handled? What changes are necessary for client roll-out? What is our roll-back strategy? All these and many more issues should be addressed/

Architectural Assessment
Simply stated, are your hardware and software elements sufficient for supporting the running of the system to be installed? Are the release levels on your operating system and database servers consistent with the system you will deploy? Are firewalls properly configured? How about the client side? Are there any browser dependants, java components that need to be distributed and installed? Do you have user profiles in place? are you running an Active Directory forest that will need configuring? Will access pattern changes require additional backbone band width? Does your SAN need reconfiguring? All these questions should have been answered as early in the system development lifecycle as possible. Often one uses their best judgment to provide these estimates. Performance and scaling test should be performed when the system utilization is expected to be high. Remediation should be sought prior to full scale production.
